Juniperus chinensis Slanting Style

Home Pick a Tree E.B.S. The Author Bonsai Links

This tree was bought at the Bonsai Traders Show in April 1998. A bargain, it only cost £25 and the Japanese pot it came in is worth a lot more than that. It had a nice nebari and splendid bark, but the main problem was the crown (as usual), which had three very thick branches, one of which had to go, but without spoiling the trunk line or losing too much foliage.

Summer 1999

I actually styled the tree at the European Bonsai  Association Convention at Stratford on Avon.

March 2000

The tree was repotted in February but I kept it in it's original pot which I think is very suitable.
It still needs a lot of detailed wiring and pinching out but I will wait a month or two.
