June 1996
This planting was assembled on New Years Day '96.
It consists of 3 Juniperus squamata Meyerii 'Blue Mound'.
The rock is 2 pieces of lava rock cemented together.
This type of rock is superb for rock plantings, it is light and porous
soft enough to work but very weather resistant. Unfortunately it is
becoming hard to get hold of. |

One problem I find with rock planting is that any accent
plants and also the moss are not easy to maintain over the year, so I
usually replant them in Spring |

I am thinking of replacing the Squamatas with Juniperus
chinensis to give a better sense of scale. |
